JCHDSO to go ahead with eco-blockade
Rebuts Education Minister's statement on TET centre

Ukhrul, October 04 2012: A day after Education Minister M Okendro re-asserted his stand on Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) centres, Joint Committee of Hill Districts Student's Organisations (JCHDSO) has rebutted the former's statement and reiterated its stand to go ahead with indefinite blockade in case of failure to meet the demand for setting up TET centres in the hill district headquarters.

On Thursday in some section of local dailies, Education Minister M Okendro reasserted his stand on TET centres while citing technical difficulties to establish the centres in other districts.

Talking to this reporter, JCHDSO took strong exception to the Minister's statement and sought an explanation on "technical ground" that he cited for non-feasibility of allotting TET centres.

"If the test centres can be allotted to the twin capital districts, why it cannot be established in the hills or to other district headquarters? The Minister should be more precise with the factor that he had subscribed as the reason for non-feasibility," the TKS president Yangmi Khapai, on behalfof the JCHDSO, questioned the Minister.

JCHDSO member Wungnaosung SW agreed the condition that there may be technical difficulties, but also questioned "that there are no technical problems which cannot be settled.

What is the intention of State government denying the longstanding demand of tribal student bodies?" .

Minister Okendro had also stated that in future the TET examination will be held in all the hill district headquarters.

However, the tribal student bodies asked why "in future" and not this time.

"In 2011, the State government had laid off the issue citing that it shall be realized in 2012.But nothing concrete has come out so far," it asserted.

Further, it has questioned the State government's intention to hold the examination in a hurry when there are problems at hand to settle.

With the State government maintaining their steadfast stand, the JCHDSO also reiterated that it will go ahead with their call for indefinite economic blockade from October 15 midnight in the State in the event of the government's failure to come up with timely and positive response.
