Following an assurance given by Home Minister Gaikhangam, JAC constituted in connection with the murder of Kh Catherine has decided to claim the body of the teenager after conducting post mortem examination tomorrow.
Apart from continuing its sit-in-protest at Pallel Bazar, the JAC today submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister demanding befitting punishment to the culprits.
A spokesperson of the JAC told The Sangai Express that the Home Minister patiently listened to the demands of the JAC and gave a firm assurance to book the culprits within two-three days.
It may be mentioned that Catherine went out from her rented room at Komlathabi, where she was staying together with her five siblings, in the afternoon of October 1 before she was found murdered on October 2 at Ibudhou Sengmai Ningthou Lai Lam Thokpham Hill, on Pallel-Aimol Road.
The 19-year-old girl was the third daughter of Kh Simon and Veihon of New Lamkang Khunthak.
She was a Class X student of St Paul High School, Komlathabi.
She was staying together with her siblings in a rented room at Komlathabi.
Meanwhile, the sit-in-protest that started yesterday at Pallel Bazar continued today as well.
Taking part in the sit-in-protest, Lamkang Students' Union president Dilbung William demanded the Government to book the culprits at the earliest.
Police have recorded statements of Catherine's mother and elder sister in connection with the incident.
In today's sit-in-protest, apart from representatives of different organisations and people of different communities, representatives of Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibee, Manipur, All Tribal Women Organisation, Chandel, Lamkang Women's Society, United NGOs Mission, Manipur, Centre for Social Development and Women Action for Development took part in the sit-in-protest.
