Socio-Economic Empowerment project (SEEP) organised its third foundation day at the conference hall of Hotel Imphal today.
Three women entrepreneurs were feted with Entrepreneur Excellence Award during the function.
The women entrepreneurs were Saikhom Ongbi Dayabati Devi of Khurai Ahongei, Takhellambam Ongbi Ranjana Devi of Haobam Marak and Longjam Renubala Devi of Thangmeiband Polem Leikai.
Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, MLA RK Anand said, people of other States consider Manipur as a State which is slow in progress.
However, comparing to womenfolk of other States, Manipuri women take more participation in socio-economic and political activities.
Manipuri women are more intelligent and patient than their counterparts of other States, the MLA added.
Maintaining that the Self Help Groups of the State need sensitization, RK Anand said that the loans borrowed from different banks and agencies need to be paid back regularly.
The Government must also provide additional assistance and encouragement,
he added.
Speaking at the occasion, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) president A Mobi expressed concern over the high rate of corruption prevailing in the State.
Many youths are compelled to adopt wrong means and ways due to corruption, he added.
Saying that many women and girls are excelling in the fields of politics and media, A Mobi added that many have even emerged as toppers of Civil Services.
MU Commerce Department Associate Professor Dr Robita Sorokhaibam while speaking at the function said that Manipuri women are so innovative.
Prof N Mohendro and Meira Foods proprietor H Subra were also present at the function.
26 SHGs were also feted in the function.
