Imphal, October 04 2012:
WITH NO bidder showing interest to its earlier tenders called for operation of Semi-Low Floor buses sanctioned under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) has yet again floated tender to invite interested bidders.
According to reliable sources, earlier in October 2011, UMTA had floated tenders to invite bidders for operation of the Semi-low floor buses.
However, no bidder had shown any interest.
So, in December 2011 again, tender was reissued but none responded.
Taking into consideration of the unwillingness of private parties to operate the Semi-low floor bus services in the state, a meeting of UMTA was held and discussed the matter minutely.
Accordingly, the meeting decided to extend the date of submission of bid documents till March 2012 .
At the end of March this year, only one bidder came up, sources disclosed.
The sources further informed that another meeting of UMTA was conducted in September last where it was decided that the tender notice should be refloated.
Hence, private individuals or parties willing to operate the services of semi-low floor buses invited for the third time.
