Lab items distributed to Heirok Higher Secondary School

Under the initiative of Council of Scientific Industrial Research North East institute of Science and Technology, Sub-station Lamphelpat, laboratory equipment have been handed over to Heirok Higher Secondary School at a simple ceremony attended by Education Minister M Okendro Singh as Lamphelpat today.
With reported strength of one headmaster, 20 teaching staff members and 80 students, the Heirok institute received two computer sets, one digital camera, one refrigerator, 10 compound microscope and three simple microscope.
Heirok Hr Sec School is the 57th school so far equipped by the CSIR-NEIST.
Today's programme also included distribution of glass ware-chemicals to DNA (Dept of Biotechnology Natural Resources Awareness) Club Schools.
Laboratory equipment were also provided to some select schools on the occasion.
Appreciating CSIR-NEIST for its endeavour to ensure that educational institutions are properly equipped to facilitate scientific studies of the students, Minister Okendro conceded that Government of Manipur cannot provide such vital equipment to many schools.
Expressing confidence that the students would be able to expand their horizon of learning with the provision of the new equipment, he also called upon the school authorities to ensure that the new equipment are properly utilised.
Uripok AC MLA L Nandakumar and Chief Scientist of CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat Dr BG unni were also present at the occasion.
