Imphal, August 30 2022:
Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has appealed to the State administration to increase the required infrastructure in order to ensure that all students of the State can appear for the Common University Entrance Test Post Graduate 2022 (CUET PG 2022) within the State.
MUSU has also appealed to the University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Testing Agency (NTA) to increase the number of alloted test centres in Manipur, a statement has informed.
It may be noted that MUSU's appeals comes on the heels of many students being alloted test centres outside the State for the CUET PG 2022 .
In a statement, MUSU expressed concern over the allotment of test centres outside the State despite students selecting Manipur as their preferred choice and said that this might pose a lot of inconveniences to students from poor households.
Aside from this, travelling to a different State on such short notice presents its own slew of problems, the statement added.
MUSU highlighted the State Government's responsibility in conducting such test that provides a common platform to students, especially those in remote areas of the North east to get enrolled in their preferred choice of Universities in India.
As such, MUSU has appealed to the State Government to strengthen the required infrastructures such as Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) facilities which are necessary to conduct the Computer Based Test (CBT) and solve this issue in the interest of the students.
It is worth noting that CUET was introduced for students seeking to gain admission in various post graduate programmes in 42 central universities.
CUET PG 2022 is slated to be held from September 1 to 11 at various centres across the country.
