WY tablets worth Rs 4 cr seized

Imphal, August 30 2022:
A team of Imphal West commandos arrested three persons along with 88,000 pieces of WY tablets worth around Rs 4 crore in international market from different parts of the State yesterday, said Imphal West SP Ksh Shivakanta.
Addressing a press meet today, the SP informed that the team conducted a frisking and checking exercise at Meitei Lamkhai areas yesterday on receiving inputs about transportation of banned drug items along Imphal-Moreh road.
Saying that one Hyundai i20 car was intercepted during the drive, the SP said that 9.164 Kilograms of WY tablets (approx) were found concealed in a chamber of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested on the spot.

On spot verification, the driver was identified as Longjam Ratan (30) s/o Sarat of Nongdam Awang Leikai.
As per the SP, the seized drugs belong to one Kanga-bam Jadumani alias Jadu (52) s/o Dijamani of Charangpat Mayai Leikai, presently staying at Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak.
In the follow up action, Kangabam Jadumani and one of his accomplices identified as Majnu Miah (37), s/o Soibar Rahman of Joranga Part II, Assam were arrested from near Sapermeina police station along with one car (Tata Hexa) .
The SP further stated that Kangabam Jadumani and Majnu Miah were arrested while they were heading toward Dimapur and preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested persons are members of an inter-State drug syndicate.
The SP also stated that Rs 1,42,430 in cash and six mobile phones were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
The arrested persons have been handed over to Singjamei police station.
It is reported that the trio have been remanded to police custody till September 8 by CJM, Imphal West.
On the other hand, NAB SP K Meghachandra stated that the probe against the people involved in drug related cases is being moni- tored strictly so that none of the accused gets bail and to ensure proper disposal of every drug related case.
He also said that a notice has been sent to the chiefs of villages where poppies are being planted illegally.
"FIR will be lodged against the poppy cultivators," the SP added.
On the other hand, Kakching police seized 692 grams of heroin from Nungourok village today.
Reportedly, the drug was brought in an unregistered Maruti Gypsy which was coming from Pallel towards Kakching side.
The Gypsy was driven by one Boipu Haokip (31) s/o Mangneo Haokip of Molnoi village, Tengnoupal.
