Seminar on 'Combating Child Trafficking1 conducted

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in collaboration with State CPCR and Pherzawl district administration organised a seminar on 'Combating Child Trafficking' in connection with commemoration of 'World Day Against Human Trafficking' observed on July 30 under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at the DC Office Chamber of Pherzawl District on Tuesday.
As a resource person of the discourse, Churachandpur additional SP Hasby Haokip stated that traffickers prey on unsuspecting families by making promises of education in Mission Boarding schools, financial support through jobs in foreign countries or mainland Indian cities which are not seen as 'child trafficking' by innocent parents from the hills.
Meanwhile, ADC Ch Sachi stressed the need for organising awareness campaign on the issue in association with CSOs and NGOs operating in the district.
The ADC also stated that information should be disseminated to the masses in local dialects for better understanding.
The programme was attended by Pherzawl DC Joseph Pauline Kamson, ASP Lunzamung Tungnung, Churachandpur (lUCAW) ASP Hasby Haokip, Child Welfare Police Officers, Child Welfare Committee (CWCs), Juvenile Justice Board members and District Child Pro tection Units (DCPUs) .
