Infra company pays ₹12 lakh compensation to VDF man

The Keystone Infra Private Limited (KSIPL) has paid Rs 2 lakh compensation to a VDF member identified as Takthaiphou Dangmei, who sustained severe injury due to negligence on the part of the construction company's labourers, after Manipur Human Rights Commission directed the company to pay the relief assistance.
On receipt of a complaint petition filed by Tak-thaiphou's wife Gaipiiilu Dangmei, MHRC took cognizance of the matter and initiated proceeding of the case.
The complainant stated that her husband, VDF member, sustained severe injury due to negligence on the part of labourers of Keystone Infra Private Ltd (KSIPL) , Imphal Branch Office.
On November 13, 2018, the labourers of KSIPL, with out paying any heed to Takthaiphou Dangmei's request, pulled down stone boulders resulting in his serious injury.
After the incident, Takthaiphou is incapable of any physical work and he has now become a victim of both physical and mental disability.
Report received from KSIPL, Imphal office indicated that the company borne the medical expenses incurred during the hospitalisation of the complainant 's husband.
However, on the directive of MHRC, KSIPL agreed to pay Rs 2 lakh as compensation on humanitarian ground.
In compliance with the directive of MHRC, KSIPL counsel G Iboyaima deposited a cheque of Rs 2 lakh at the office of MHRC.
During Tuesday's proceeding, MHRC directed its registry to pay the amount to the complainant after proper verification by her counsel.
