Sangai Festival-2022 records highest ever footfall

This year's Manipur Sangai Festival has recorded highest ever footfall since the first edition of the festival with a record number of 3,53,721 tickets sold for the calendar event.
The tickets were sold only for two venues of the festival, Hapta Kangjeibung and Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou.
The remaining 11 venues where entry fee was not charged also recorded impressive turnout of visitors.
Among the earlier editions of the festival, 2017 recorded the highest footfall with a record 3,13,795 tickets sold.
After a gap of two years, the festival was organised for the first time this year and it saw huge public turnout.
During the 10-day tourism festival, Sunday (November 27), being a holiday, recorded highest sale of 70,657 tickets.
It was followed by November 26 with 58,123 tickets, then November 30 with 54,744 tickets and November 29 with 53,475.The 2019 edition of the festival had low turnout of public following a boycott call by Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) in demand of full disclosure of the Framework Agreement signed between NSCN-IM and Government of India.
The 2016 edition had 2,30,422 tickets sold while there was no festival in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
In this year's edition, the festival was also held at Gel-jang Resort in Churachandpur district with several cultural, traditional and entertainment activities as main attractions.
Free access was offered to all visitors there.
Similarly, visitors did not require ticket for entering other festival sites such as Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Mao and Ibud-hou Marjing Polo Complex, Heingang among others.
