Thoubal, December 01 2022:
Exerting pressure on the authorities concerned for posting adequate number of teachers at Haoreibi Makha Leikai High Madrassa, Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO), Manipur put the school located in Thoubal district under lock and seal on Thursday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, PSO general secretary Imran Khan pointed out that the Ma drassa is filled with inadequacies including shortage of teachers and the students are deprived of their rights to education.
In this regard, the organisation submitted memorandum three times to the authorities concerned for redressing the inadequacies and even set deadline.
However, the authorities turned a deaf ear to the demands till now, he lamented, while adding that having only ten teachers to teach students from Class I to X is not practicable.
Pointing out that education is the most vital in shaping a society, Imran Khan denounced the government's indifferent attitude towards education in the state and said that such negligence will hinder in developing the society.
He reiterated the demand for posting adequate teachers to the school and fill up the infrastructural requirement so as to ensure quality education to the students.
A student protestor also denounced that the only educational institute for an area covering 7/8 km radius is facing serious issues and demanded the authority to send the required teachers by considering the plight of Class X appearing students.
More intense forms of protest will be launched if authorities continue to ignore their demand, the student cautioned.
