Manipur clinch 12 gold medals on Day 1 of 28th National Junior Thang-Ta Cship

Manipur made a rousing start to their campaign in the 28th National Junior Thang-Ta Championship 2022 which got underway at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium here on Thursday.
The state athletes clinched 12 gold and one bronze medals on the opening day of the championship.
In the junior boys' phunaba ama event, Ng Bholen Singh (-44kg), L Ashamani Meitei (-48kg), Kh Panan Meitei (-52kg), Th Gunabanta Singh (-56kg), Ph Bishorjit Meitei (-65kg) and Birajit Ngashepam (-80kg) all triumphed in their respective weight categories to claim top podium honours.
The state boys were also equally impressive in the phunaba anishuba event where they collected six gold medals courtesy of Rohit Miasnam (-44kg), Kh Abomcha Singh (-48kg), K Loveson (-56kg), N Bikash Singh (-70kg), S Sunibash Singh (-80kg) and L Thouna Meitei (+80kg).Meanwhile, Century Meisnam settled for bronze medal in the -70kg category as Saksham of Haryana came out on top and Shivkant Dangi of Madhya Pradesh finished second.
Sagar was another athlete from Haryana to win gold medal.
He clinched his yellow metal in the +80kg phunaba ama event.
The opening day also Delhi claim two gold medals through Pradeep (-60kg phunaba ama) and Garv (-60kg phunaba anishuba) while Assam finished the day with one fold medal by M Chinglemba 52kg phunaba anishuba) .
