Two women die, hubby of one arrested

Imphal, December 01 2022:
Two married women, including one in her mid-20s, died in separate incidents in Bishnupur and Kakching districts on Thursday.
According to police, one Nongmaithem Ningol Thiyam (Ongbi) Binda (43) wife of Devan of Kumbi Terakhong Thoubal Leikai under Kumbi police station in Bishnupur district lost her life after a fight with her husband.
The police have arrested the husband in connection with the case and deposited the lifeless body of Binda at RIMS mortuary for postmortem.
Speaking to the media, Binda's brother Nongmaithem Thoiba contended that his sister, who is a mother of four children, succumbed to injuries after Devan assaulted her on Wednesday.
As the in-laws were making preparations to cremate her on Thursday morning, her parental family members lodged complaint to Kumbi police station, Thoiba said, adding that the police station registered an FIR after which the husband was arrested and the lifeless body taken to RIMS for post mortem.
Meanwhile, the second victim identified as Ksh Linthoi (24), wife of Mahesh of Kakching Laithagon, reportedly died from consuming poison.
As per the police report, Linthoi was initially rushed to IMA Hospital at Kakching from where she was referred to Shija Hospitals, Imphal as her condition deteriorated.
However, she succumbed at Shija hospitals shortly after admission.
The victim's family members have consequently lodged a complaint at Kakching police station where an FIR has been registered and the body kept at JNIMS mortuary for post mortem.
