Thoubal DC advises rehab centres to register

While advising all the rehabilitation/de-addiction centres to get registered at Social Welfare Department, Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash said that district administration and the Department will jointly conduct inspection of rehab centres and unregistered rehabs will be deregistered.
Speaking at the 7th anniversary cum Thanksgiving Service of Breakthrough Mission India at Khongjom Sangaikhong on Thursday, DC Subhash recounted numerous unwanted incidents including dead of inmates at rehabilitation centres and opined that such distressful events in the past could have been averted had authorities concerned frames a firm policy for regulating these centres.
As such, with the Social Welfare Department already launch a new policy with different criteria to monitor the rehab centres, functionaries of such facilities should ensure registration under the Department, he said and advised all the rehabilitation centres to comply with the guidelines set by the government.
The anniversary celebration held on the theme 'Mission of the faith journey' was attended by BJP state general secretary (administration) L Deben, Thoubal district additional SP (Ops) O Wangkhom-ba and Manipur University registrar Prof David Zote as presidium members.
