Nupi Lan to be observed at Assam, Tripura

To commemorate the valiant acts of Manipuri women of Nupi Lan, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) will observe 83rd Nupi Lan at Tripura and Assam in association with other organizations.
The Nupi Lan observation in Tripura will be jointly organised by AMUCO and Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum, Tripura and will be held at Bamutiya Berimura in Agartala where cultural programmes will be performed by many cultural organizations of Manipur and Tripura, said a press release by AMUCO secretary publicity, Laishram Krishnachandra Khuman.
As a part of the observation, a foundation stone laying ceremony to erect a Nupi Lan statue at Nalgaria Radha Mandav Devatabari Complex, Rani Bazar, Agartala will be held.
With an aim to honour the brave and sacrificial contributions of the Manipuri forefathers and to inspire the Manipuris settling outside the State.
AMUCO will strive to erect such structures of historical importance outside the State.
A team of AMUCO will leave Imphal on December 10 to join the observation in Tripura and during the stay, the team will interact with the Meitei Pangal and Koireng communities settled in Tripura.
Meanwhile on December 9, a team led by AMUCO vice-president will depart to attend the Nupi Lan observation to be held at Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Office, Hojai jointly organised by the United Manipuri Association, Assam Handloom Committee Hojai District and Manipuri Women Association (Manipuri Nupi Lup), added the release.
