Parents have huge role in moulding players, says Dronacharya Awardee Ibomcha

Parents have a tremendous role in moulding and shaping prominent players, said Dronacharya Awardee boxing coach L Ibomcha.
Ibomcha, who is also Deputy Director of SAI-STC, Khuman Lampak was attending the opening ceremony of 16th Senior Men, U-17 Boys, U-15 Boysand 14th Senior Women's, U-17 Girls, U-15 Girls Freestyle and Greco Roman Style State Level Wrestling Championship at Khuman Lampak.
Speaking at the occasion, he said that athletes have to spend time with coaches for around 4 hours only and a major chunk with the parents during which diet, behaviour and other aspects have to be checked.
As such, parents have a major role in producing notable players, he said.
The opening programme was also attended by S Saratkumar, founder treasurer of Manipur Wrestling Association, Nameirakpam Nabadweep, founder executive member and Laishram Brojen, retired Table Tennis Chief Coach as presidium members.
In all 69 wrestlers representing NSA, SAIRC, Thoubal, Bishnupur and MPSC will be competing for top honours in this two day championship.
In the Greco-Roman style competitions for U-15 boys held today, Takhelmayum Radhakeshwar won 48 kg category gold, and Irakbarma won 57 kg category gold.
