Imphal, December 03 2022:
Director General of Police (DGP) P Doungel has appealed to all private security guards and musical bands of marriage and other such ceremonies not to use dresses which are similar to police uniform.
In a notification, the DGP stated that private security staff and band members are regularly seen wearing dresses similar to police uniform, i.e khaki of civil police and camouflage of MR/IRB and commandos.
Saying that such a scenario causes security concern and confuses the people and police personnel on duty, the DGP said that the PHQ has already directed SsP not to permit wearing of camouflage, khaki and police uniform by private security personnel.
P Doungel further appealed to all concerned, specially those providing security guards, bands and those employing them to use outfits which are not similar to police uniform.
"Necessary action will be initiated against the violators as per law," it added.
