International Day of Persons With Disabilities observed

As observed across the globe, International Day Of Persons With Disabilities - 2022 was held at Western Panthoiba Club playground at Yairipok Angtha Maning Leikai in Imphal East today organised by Manipur State Differently Abled Society.
The observation which was held under the theme "Peace and Help" was graced by Azad Higher Secondary School Principal Ch Nilkamal Sharma; Angtha Gram Panchayat Pradhan Thiyam Manihal and Ward Members namely Th Surjit, K Thambal Devi, K Surjit and L Tunal Devi; Manipur State Differently Abled Society President Thiyam Ram Singh and Apunba Nupi Khunnai Lamjing Meira Lup ,Yairipok Imphal East President Asem Ibetombi Leima as the presidium members.

Presenting the keynote address of the programme, Manipur State Differently Abled Society General Secretary Thiyam Dillip said that the day is observed to raise awareness on the importance of encouraging the differently abled persons to pursue their talents and help them lead a normal life.
He also highlighted the need of treating the differently abled persons with love and respect instead of stigmatising them.
During the programme, Thiyam Ongbi Yeka Devi Differently Abled Talents Award-2022 were presented to honour the talents of differently abled persons.
Simple gifts were also presented to the differently abled persons who came to attend the programme.
Meanhwile, in connection with the International Day Of Persons With Disabilities observation, Dr Kshetrimayum Kala Singh, Seva Ratna National Awardee organised a door to door free medical check up for around differently abled bedridden persons in Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency and distributed free medicines to them.
He also presented blankets to these persons and assured to extend best possible assistance from his side.
