Imphal, December 03 2022:
Taking serious note of private security staff and private band party members using dresses similar to uniform of personnel of law enforcing agencies, the state police department has issued a strong instruction, banning wearing of all such similar uniforms with immediate effect.
A notification issued in this regard by DGP P Doungel stated that private security staff and private band party members are found wearing uniforms similar to law enforcing agencies like khaki of civil police and olive green and camouflage of MR/IRB and Commandos (CDOs) on many occasions.
This has caused security concerns and confusion among the public and police personnel on duty.
PHQ has already directed SSP concerned not to permit wearing of camouflage, khaki and police uniform by private security personnel on May 5, 2022 .
"Keeping in view of situation, it is hereby informed all concerned, especially those providing security guards, band parties and those employing them that they should use uniform which are not similar to police personnel.
Necessary action will be initiated against violators as per law," the notification stated.
