Imphal, December 03 2022:
As part of its '16 Days activism on violence against women ', Women Action for Development (WAD) organised a discussion on gender issue with young scholars and media persons on Saturday.
During the discussion, research scholars Menaobi presented a paper on 'gender budget', Bijeta on 'women health', Taibangnganbi on 'COVID-19 and Ima Keithel' and Welkim on 'COVID-19 and crime against women'.
Scholars Abrar, Peisinlu, Puja and Robert also presented their papers on 'gender digital divide', 'women and economics department', 'women and handloom' and 'women and tourism' respectively during the discussion.
Taking part in the discourse, Professor Chinglen Maisnam of MU economics department said that papers presented by young scholars were almost complete but there seems to be gap between 'think tank' and 'do tank', which need to be correlated.
He said that intellectuals need to work closely with communities as this will help in resolving big issues confronting the state.
He further said that none of the 17 sustainable goals would be achieved if gender issue discussed on Saturday with young scholars is ad dressed properly.
