Moreh, December 03 2022:
Numerous villages of Manipur located in the Indo-Myanmar border area are on the verge of being taken over by Myanmar as villages from Border Pillar (BP) number 74 to BP 76 Haolenphai village could be visible enlisted in Myanmar territory in the Google map.
Speaking to media persons in this regard at Haolenphai village, village chief Lhalkholun Haokip described as both unfortunate and worrisome that amid frequent incidents of disputes over boundary issues along the border belt many villages in the said border areas could be visible specified as Myanmar territory in the Google map.
The village chief identified Haolenphai, Thangcham, H Monnom, Ngamun, H Lhangcham and others as the border villages situated in between BP 76 to 74 that the Myanmarese government might claim as theirs.
As such, he urged authorities concerned to do the needful for rectifying the error as Myanmar will surely take over the villages if the government undermines the situation.
No statement or any move has been made from the side of Myanmarese government as of now, Lhalkholun conveyed, while exhorting CSOs of different communities residing in the state to look into the matter and save the land.
