Irang villagers hail MGNREGA

"If Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gaurantee Act was not implemented people of Irang Areas would have vanished long time back", expressed Hari Prasad Nepal, GB, Irang Part-I. Irang area under 50-Kangpokpi AC is situated along the Imphal-Tamenglong Road, commonly known as IT Road, said to be one of the oldest roads in the state.
The area which have been divided into Irang Part-I and Irang Part-II comprise of 28 villages with Irang Part-I having 12 villages and Irang Part-II 18 villages.
Hari Prasad was speaking at the inauguration function of Bharat Nirman Rajiv Gandhi Sewa Kendra (community hall) at Paudel Basti, Irang Part-I wherein Nemcha Kipgen, MLA Kangpokpi AC, DKThangboi (MCS), Addl.
Deputy Commissioner (Kangpokpi), Bhumi Prasad Basnet, EM, SHADC-Kpi and Rajkumari Sedai, ex-Zilla Parishad Member, Kanglatongbi also attended.
The Community Hall was constructed under MGNREGA, according to the organizing committee.
Traditional Nepali and Buddhist dances marked the grand occasion.
Speaking at the occasion MLA Nemcha Kipgen lauded the tireless efforts of the people of Irang and pointed out importance of such facilities for the people.
expressing elation of inaugurating the community hall during the religious festival Durga Puja, she urged everyone to utilize the Hall for upliftment and development of the area.
The MLA also distributed kettles to the 28 village temples as a gift on the occasion of Durga Puja while asserting that one should differentiate religions since God is only One and 'we are all created only by Him'.
Nemcha also applauded efforts for women's welfare in the area and strongly emphasised on women empowerment for the upliftment of the society and in bringing positive changes to the society economically, socially and politically.
Addl Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi DK Thangboi expressing satisfaction over the work executed under MGNREGA by the people of Irang areas also solicited suggestions on development policies so as to enable the Govt acheive all round development at the remotest areas.
"Inauguration of Paudel Basti Community Hall in Irang Part-I personally by MLA Nemcha Kipgen is the greatest achievement of the Irang denizens", said Rajkumari Sedai, ex-Zilla Parishad member, Kanglatongbi while adding that She (MLA) is still the only MLA so far who stepped her foot in the land of this remote area after so many years of its existence.
Highlighting various other grievances of the people of Irang areas Hari Prasad Nepal, submitted a memorandum to the MLA stating that due to non availability of educational institution even at primary level children of 12 Miles comprising Chuchekhop, Dahalthari and Lamchok have been deprived of basic education and requested the MLA to set up atleast one Primary School at the said village.
The GB also urged the MLA to construct one market shed and a waiting shed to facilitate economic development of the people of 10 Miles Poudel Basti, provide water supply facility and set up additional Sub-Primary Health Centre at Paudel Basti.
Several memorandum from various organizations and villages GBs were also submitted to the local MLA who assured to look into the matters and do the needful in the interest of the general public.
Interestingly, some peoples walked 6 hours by foot to attend today's function and air their grievances on hearing about the MLA's presence in the area.
