'Compensation for 2024-25 not released yet'

Imphal, September 07 2026: The Centre has not yet released compensation for farmers affected by the unrest for the year 2024-25, said Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand in the Assembly.

Responding to queries raised by MLA K Ranjit during Zero Hour, Khemchand said the Government has already released Rs 40 crore sanctioned by the Centre for the year 2023-2024 .

While the State had sought Rs 80 crore compensation for the year 2024-25, the Centre has not released the amount citing discrepancies.

As instructed, the State is conducting a resurvey, he added.

Several MLAs including Nishikant Singh Sapam and Abdul Nasir raised the NRC issue in support of the public demand during zero hour of the Assembly today.
