Imphal, October 11, 2013:
All the hill unit presidents of the bodies of persons with disabilities in Manipur have unanimously resolved to not to co-operate with the now defunct All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM) but remained as All Tribal Disabled Students' Union, Manipur (ATDSU), according to a joint statement signed by the respective district Presidents.
The joint statement cited inaability to conduct election since the establishment of ATDUM, presence of no representatives from recognised Disabled Union of the hill districts, holding of no general election, creation of disabled organisations by Momo Tantanga, President ATDSU on his own such as Ukhrul Disabled Federation (UDF), Association of Persons with Disabilities (APPWO), Tamenglong Disable Association (TDA), etc which brought confusion and disunity in the society; lack of financial transparency, non-payment of money to persons concerned, taking advantage in the name of tribal disabled from the Govt, thereby defaming the name of while disable tribals, etc as some of the reasons for the rejection.
Furthermore, the joint statement announced that general body of ADUHD would be held on October 29, 2013 at Manipur Press Club, Imphal at 10.30 am.
