CCpur, September 01 2022: Churachandpur police seized a truckload of illegally shipped fertilisers from B Ebenezer Veng, Churachandpur last night at around 11 .

Police sources said that a truck loaded with 299 bags of fertilizers under the brand Dr Fasat was detected at about 11 pm.

On enquiring about the details of the shipment, the truck driver identified as Md Abdul Latif of Lilong Chingjao could not produce any valid document.

Accordingly, the truck along with the fertilisers were seized, it added.

The truck driver has reportedly admitted that the fertilisers were meant for cross border business and that he was on his way to unload the same.

The seized items along with the driver were later handed over to Customs officials by the police.

It may be recalled that the district police on August 24 seized another 63 bags of urea which were believed to have been abandoned by the owners at the border villages of Tuikumuallum/Suangdai Village under Suangdoh sub-division.

The fertilisers may have been left behind by the owners on seeing the police personnel patrolling the area, police said.

The fertiliser bags were then transported by Singngat police and handed over to Customs and Excise Department at Churachandpur town.
