The protest demonstration was jointly organised by Naga People's Union Imphal (NPUI), Imphal Naga Business Association (INBA), Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC), Imagi Meira and Core Committee on Relief and Rehabilitation (CCRR) .
Speaking to media persons, NPUI president M Ngaranmi demanded justice for the six Nagas butchered in the most savage manner by Kukis and release of all village volunteers and AT members.
He also demanded abrogation of SoO agreement with Kuki armed groups and seizure of all their arms and urged the Government to drive out all illegal immigrants from Manipur.
Pointing out that Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen is the wife of a Kuki militant group, Ngaranmi demanded her resignation on moral ground.
He warned that the Naga and Meitei people will be compelled to carry on further protests if the Government chooses to remain silent to the demands and grievances of the people.
Khwairamband Keithel Sinpham Amadi Shaktam Kanba Lup president Kshetrimayum Shanti said that all indigenous communities have been suffering a lot on account of the prolonged violence.
She said that the crackdown and arrest of village volunteers is unacceptable.
Echoing the demand for abrogation of SoO agreement with Kuki militants, she also urged the Government to deliver justice to the six Naga civilians butchered by Kuki militants.
The common people have suffered too much and too long.
The people are exhausted with staging protest demonstrations and rallies.
People are tired of submitting memoranda to the Government.
It's time the Government shows empathy to the suffering and grievances of the people, and delivers justice without any further delay, Shanti said.
Pointing out that village volunteers came into being after the Government failed miserably to protect lives and properties of citizens, she expressed strong condemnation against the crackdown and arrest of village volunteers.
She also questioned the Government's inaction against Kuki terrorists who have been attacking innocent people incessantly.
Highlighting the abject failure to arrest even one culprit involved in the barbaric murder of the six Naga hostages and dismembering their bodies, she further questioned the legitimacy of the incumbent Government.
The protest demonstration was also participated by members of several CSOs.
The protesters used placards which read as "Do justice to the six Konsakhul villagers butchered by Kukis", "Stop terrorists from killing innocent people", "No mercy for terrorists", "Remove Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen", "Stop proxy war and killing innocent people" etc .
Markets, shops and all commercial establishments of Khwairamband remained shut during the protest.
