Imphal, October 11, 2013:
ll Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has requested the barbers to attend a meeting to be held at 11 am on October 22 at AMSU Headquarters located at DM College campus.
The meeting would fix the charge of haircut in the State, said AMSU President Thiyam Naresh.
Speaking to reporters, Naresh added that Manipur Barber Association with Pappu Thakur as its General Secretary had already been disbanded some time back.
He expressed wonder how a disbanded association could announce through media that the charge of hair-cut would be Rs30 from November 1. It has been confirmed by the student's body from the Commissioner of Labour Department that no direction in this regard has been given to the association, he added.
Naresh expressed dissatisfaction over extending support by some organisations to the disbanded Barbers' association regarding hike in hair-cut rate.
Saying that AMSU would conduct an inspection drive to saloons soon, Naresh warned that those saloons which charge Rs30 for hair-cut would be banned indefinitely.
