Awareness on Madrassa modernisation held

Waqf Board, Manipur conducted a one-day awareness cum seminar on 'The implementation of Madrassa Modernisation Scheme' on Thursday at Muslim Girls' Hostel, Hafiz Hatta Minuthong.
Waqf Board, Manipur Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah, Dr Maniruddin Seikh, Wabagai A/C MLA Md Fajur Rahim, Secretary, MOBC M Lakshmi Kumar and MOBC Director Kh Dineshchandra Singh graced the programme as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, chief guest Md Amin Shah said 30, out of the total 100 madrassa schools in the State have been selected for the Madrassa Modernisation scheme.
Under the scheme, 5 more teachers would be allotted in each of the 30 selected schools including an added curriculum of general education for the students.
Till date Madrassa schools in the State teaches only Urdu language and other Islam related information to Muslim students.
However, under the scheme, other subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, Political Science and other would henceforth be taught to the students.
These selected schools will also be affiliated under the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur, the chief guest stated.
There is a need to train Madrassa staffs the proper ways to educate the students, he added.
