Imphal, September 03 2015:
Coordination Committee (CorCom) has urged all indigenous groups of the State to unite and stand together against creation of wedge between the ethnic communities by any element.
A statement released by CorCom publicity & committee media coordinator Ksh Yoiheiba on Thursday stated, "The present Kangleipak (Manipur) had been presented to the people by the greatness of our forefathers of all the 39 ethnic communities of the land" .
It said it is the joint responsibility of all the indigenous people who own Manipur to safeguard it and evoked the sacrifices made by valiant people belonging to the Kuki, Naga, Meitei and other groups for the motherland in the past.
CorCom also evoked the Kuki Rebellion and the freedom movement led by Pu Haipou Jadonang against the colonial British Government.
The outfit said all groups in Manipur have a common ancestral background and that they are all from Mongoloid-stock, who speak Tibeto-Burman language with a common identity.
It said the sudden outburst of tension among different groups in the State was the outcome of some statements and rumours that had branded the Kuki brethren as 'foreigners' .
The outfit also alleged the Government of India for creating wedge between the communities in the State which had witnessed large scale arson and violence that claimed precious lives and appealed to all groups to be aware of the destructive policies of the Centre.
