Imphal, September 03 2015:
Thadou Youth Association (TYA) has extended support to the 48-hour highway bandh called by the United Naga Council (UNC) from September 3 midnight in protest against the passing of the three Bills namely the Protection of Manipur Peoples Bill, 2015, Manipur Land Revenue & Land Reforms (7th Amendment) Bill, 2015 and Manipur Shop and Establishment (2nd Amendment) Bill 2015 .
A statement issued by TYA Ghq President Nehminthang Kipgen also demanded resignation of all tribal MPs, ministers and MLAs failing which they will face social boycott.
TYA further demanded a CBI enquiry into the Churachandpur killing and vowed not to hold talks with the Manipur Government until the three Bills are withdrawn by the State Assembly and a separate administration for tribals of Manipur is arranged.
Nehminthang Kipgen criticized that Manipur Land Revenue & Land Reforms (7th Amendment) Bill, 2015 is an attempt by the bigoted Government of Manipur to encroach upon the ancestral land of tribals by the majority community.
While Protection of Manipur Peoples Bill, 2015 which defines "Manipur people" as persons of Manipur whose name are in the National Register of Citizens 1951, Census Report 1951 is an attempt to exclude all the tribals of Manipur from this definition as the first Scheduled Tribe recognition by Government of India was done only in 1956, he added.
