Zeliangrong bodies demand resignation of Minister, MLAs

Imphal, September 03 2015:
All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AZSU), Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM) and Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB-AMN) strongly condemned the killing of eight persons in Churachandpur town while protesting against the passing of three "anti tribal Bills" by the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
In a joint statement issued by ZB Information and Publicity Secretary Gainithoi Gonmei; ZSUM Chairman Kadijanbou Pamei and AZSU General Secretary Benhamin Gondaimei, the bodies demanded resignation of Zeliangrong MLAS - Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam; Z Kikhonbou and Janghemlung Panmei from their respective seats stating that they have betrayed the Zeliangrong people in particular and tribal people in general.The Zeliangrong bodies stated that the passing of three Bills without consulting the Hill Areas Committee is against the law enacted to safeguard tribal property, land and people.
The organisations alleged that Chief Minister O Ibobi led government has shown bias attitude towards suppressing the democratic agitations of the tribals.
