Bishnupur, September 28 2023:
A team of Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) led by its chairperson Justice UB Saha on Thursday visited relief camps opened in different parts of Bishnupur district to examine condition in which the displaced people are living.
The inspection team also comprising MHRC member K Khagendra, Bishnupur DC L Bikram Singh, ADM H Bobby Sharma, IGP Mamata Mayengbam and Bishnupur SP K Meghachandra visited the relief camps opened at Utlou SAI Complex, Old Mini Secretariat Complex near Loukoipat and Moirang College.
The MHRC chairman also interacted with the inmates personally and instructed the Bishnupur DC to provide all necessary commodities without fail to the inmates.
To a query of the chairman to the inmates whether their rights have been violated by the armed Kuki militants during the conflict, the inmates informed him that there is no hope for them to live as their houses have been destroyed and burnt down by the Kuki militants.
Though eager to return to their ancestral homes, they expressed fear considering the manner in which the Kukis are attacking the Meiteis.
