Imphal, September 28 2023:
A large number of students today took out a protest march toward the Raj Bhavan against the brutal cold blooded murder of two young students by suspected Chin-Kuki terrorists.
The protest march organised by six student organisations started from Kwakeithel this afternoon.
As the students approached Keishampat, they were briefly halted by police at Dhobi Machu Leirak, Sega Road.
After talking for a few minutes, the students were allowed to proceed.
They were delayed for some minutes at Keishampat before they moved on to Nityaipat Chuthek.
Then the students sat down in the middle of the road just a few metres away from the Raj Bhavan gate.

There the large crowd of students shouted many slogans like "Book and punish all the culprits involved in the cold blooded murder of two students", "We want justice", "Root out Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists'', "Integrity of Manipur is non-negotiable'', "Drive out illegal immigrants" and "Hail Manipur'' etc.
Phijam Hemanjit (20) of Takyel Kolom Leikai and Hijam Linthoingambi alias Luwanganbi (17) of Tera Tongbram Leikai went missing after they went out on a motorcycle on July 6 .
They have been assumed dead after their photographs surfaced on social media on September 25 .
Speaking about their protest march on behalf of the six student organisations, Leishangthem Lamyanba said that they will never suspend or scale down their agitation until and unless justice is delivered to the two innocent victims of terror.
He decried that neither the Central Government nor the State Government has so far taken up any concrete action against the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists who have been attacking Meitei people incessantly using sophisticated weapons including bombs, torturing villagers, raping women and murdering civilians including young students in cold blood.
It's time the Government says no in unambiguous terms to the activities of the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
The National Register of Citizens (NRC) should be updated urgently and all the illegal immigrants must be sent back to their native countries, Lamyanba said.
On behalf of the six student organisations, he condemned in the strongest terms the brutal police crackdown on unarmed, anguished and aggrieved students who have been protesting against the cold blooded murder of the two fellow students.
He went on to ask if the huge strength of army, paramilitary forces and CAPF sent to Manipur are serving any purpose if they are unable to neutralise the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
On the other hand, a protest demonstration was staged today at Lilong against the brutal police crackdown on students.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest demonstration, DESAM secretary general Mayengbam Somorjit decried that lethal weapons were used by security forces on the students who were protesting the cold blooded murder of Linthoingambi and Hemanjit by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
Saying that one W Jotin sustained critical injuries during a students' agitation at Kakwa, Somorjit asked the Government to inform the public about the weapon used by security forces against Jotin.
The protest demonstration was organised by the Urup Arapti Apunba Meira Paibi Lup.
