Massive protests staged condemning cold blooded murder of young students

The valley districts of the State witnessed massive protests today condemning the horrendous killing of two innocent students Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi who went missing on July 6 .
Bishnupur
Strongly denouncing the brutal killing of two students who went missing on July 6 amid the tense situation of communal crisis in the State, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Bishnupur staged a sit-in protest at Moirang Lamkhai today.
Speaking at the protest, ABVP Manipur Secretary RK Ravichandra demanded that the culprits involved in the killing should be booked at the earliest.
He also condemned the excessive use of force by the security personnel upon the students who were protesting the gruesome incident thereby injuring many students seriously.

He further informed that a Nationwide protest will be staged against the abduction and killing of the two innocent students.
Placards which read, 'We Demand Justice for Linthoingambi and Hemanjit', 'Stop Violence in Manipur', 'Restore Peace in Manipur', 'We Denounce Brutality upon Innocent Students' etc were used during the protest.
Kakching
In Kakching district, a massive protest rally was carried out at Kakching Khunou today against the gruesome killing of two students organised by the Monitoring Committee, Kakching Khunou.
A large number of locals and students partook in the rally which started from Kakching Khunou Keithel and culminated at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai and chanted many slogans.
The rally was followed by a sit-in protest at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai.
To ensure that no untoward incidents occur during the protest, security measures were taken up by the Kakching District Police.
Thoubal
Expressing anguish over the death of the two young deaths, protest demonstrations were held widely at different places of Heirok demanding justice for the two slain students.
The protesting mothers of Heirok warned that they may take up the extreme step of self-immolation if the Central and State Government fail to nab the perpetrators involved in the heinous act of killing the two students within the next three days.
Speaking at the sit-in protest organised by Sporting Youth Club, Heirok Part-II, Moirangthem Leikai today, Meira Paibi Secretary Ningthoujam Nutan expressed shock and pain over the two innocent students.
Demanding arrest of the culprits involved in the killing of the two students within the next three days, she cautioned that the mothers may resort to the extreme act of self-immolation if their demand is not fulfilled within the set time frame.
Urging the relevant authorities to deliver justice for the two students, sit-ins were also staged at Heirok Part-II Devi Mandop Leikai and Heirok Keithel organised by Meira Paibis of Heirok Municipal Council Ward Number 3, 4, 5 and 6 in association with Fine Society.
Meanwhile, the students of Chingdompok High School, Heirok staged a protest demonstration at the school campus today denouncing the killing of Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi and demanded justice for the two innocent students.
Condemning the killing of innocent students and brutality of Security forces upon protesting students, a protest demonstration was held at Thoubal Melaground today organised by Government School Students' Committee Thoubal.
The protesting students used placards which read, 'We condemn killing of innocent students', 'Recover the dead bodies of the two students', 'Award befitting punishment to the culprits', 'Suspend Police personnel involved in brutal crackdown upon students', 'No compromise on Manipur's integrity' etc and chanted similar slogans.
Raising the demand for justice for the two slain students, Meira Paibis and students formed a human chain at Thoubal Ningombam organised by Umanglai Tengbang Lup,UTL Thoubal Ningombam.
It may be noted that protest demonstrations were held at Lilong New Market organised by Urup Arapti Apunba Meira Paibi Lup in association with six student bodies and at Khekman Zila Keithel.
Expressing strong resentment over the brutal crackdown meted by Security forces upon students protesting the killing of their fellow mates, a sit-in was staged at Angtha Mamang Leikai today organised by Peace, Unity & Integrity Committee Angtha and All Angtha Meira Paibi.
A large number of students from the surrounding areas of Angtha also participated in the protest. Speaking at the occasion, All Angtha Meira Paibi Lup Secretary, Konthoujam Jamini decried that Manipur has become a lawless State.
She raised questions on the discreet agenda of the Government over the biased treatment meted out to the protests at the valley regions and the hills.
She maintained that innocent protesting students were subjected to brutal treatment by security forces where tear gas shells, smoke bombs etc were fired upon them while the security forces remained as a mute spectator to the rally staged at the hills denouncing the investigation process of the two students.
She went on to state that the young student Loitongbam Kishan who sustained grievous injury on his shoulder in yesterday's protest at Imphal is from Angtha village and she strongly condemned such brutality of the security forces.
