Bishnupur, September 28 2023:
Demanding the state government to trace the culprits involved in the gruesome murder of the two students who went missing since July 6 and give them befitting punishment within a stipulated time, Lumlangdong Keithel Phambi Ima Lup has announced that the Manipuri mothers will launch intense agitation if the government fails to do the needful.
Addressing media persons at Bishnupur Abdeitya Mandir on Thursday, Lup secretary Ch Meipaktombi Devi recounted that when video of the two women paraded naked went viral on social media, the state and the central governments acted swiftly and rounded up the culprits involved.
However, when the two students were mercilessly killed by armed Kuki militants, the photos of which have been widely circulated on the social media, government authorities are in silent mode and uncertainty persist as to when the victims will get justice.
Therefore, if the government does not arrest the culprits involved in killing the two students and punish them as per the law of the land, mothers of Manipur will launch intense agitation, she cautioned.
Meipaktombi farther said that it is not human nature to watch and enjoy when two students are being brutally killed by armed Kuki militants.
Unfortunately, this is what PM Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Amit Shah are doing.
Even as the Meiteis are being attacked and killed by armed Kuki militants, chief minister N Biren has instructed Meitei village volunteers to hand over/ surrender unauthorised arms in their possession within 15 days which clearly indicates that there is a hidden agenda behind this instruction, she opined.
While contending that the 10 Kuki MLAs are openly backing the Kuki militants, she called upon the Meitei legislators to wake up and do the needful.
Meanwhile, sit-in protests were staged against the brutal murder of the two students in front of Bishnupur Forest gate on Thursday and at Ngaikhong Khunou Khongnang Makhong.
