Imphal, September 28 2023: A river cleanliness campaign along Heirok-Wangjing River was launched under the joint initiative of directorate of environment and climate change, Eco-Network Heirok and Heirok Development Club under the aegis of Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters in this regard, Eco-Network president Sinthangamba Khuman pointed out that global warming and corresponding climate change has not only impacted human beings but also all living beings.

He regretted that in-spite of the people of Heirok and Wangjing depending on Heirok Wangjing River for various purposes many dump garbage into the river and drain toilet outlets thereby making it unfit for consumption.

The cleanliness campaign which started from September 11 will continue till October 2 .
