Imphal, September 28 2023:
All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) said that all the incidents happening in the past few days are akin to pitting the people against the government so as to deviate from the main issue confronting the people of Manipur while the state government seems to have fallen into the trap laid by Kuki-Zo militants in collusion with the Government of India.
In a statement, AMUCO said that people have been courageously fighting the Kuki-Zo militants to stop their nefarious agenda of breaking apart Manipur.
However, a way for direct confrontation between the people and the government has been created to divert and dilute people's fight against Kuki-Zo militants.
Incidents that are taking place in the past few days particularly excessive and brutal actions by state and Central forces against the protesting people mainly the students in the wake of emergence of photos of the two missing but presumably murdered students on social media is one clear example of the diversionary tactics.
Since the day Kuki-Zo militants started targeting innocent villagers in their attempt to break apart Ma nipur, the state government is yet to take any proactive action consequently infuriating the people.
Had the government adopted proac tive people-oriented action in time, there would have been no protest or agitation by the masses, AMUCO opined.
Instead of supporting or encouraging people who came out to defend their motherland from foriegners' attack, the government seems determined to target the people which is not acceptable, AMUCO asserted, adding that the government is now showing indifferent attitude towards village volunteers who had earlier defended villages from Kuki-Zo militants' attacks together with the state forces.
Expressing deep concern over the brutal crackdown against protestors particularly the students by state and Central forces in the past few days with more than 100 casualties each day, AMUCO said that the state forces must stop excessive action against innocent people.
It also said that the state government must be held responsible for all the casualties and ensure proper treatment to all the injured students and protestors.
Apart from this, the government must initiate immediate action to punish security personnel belonging to both state and Central forces who used excessive action during protest demonstration or else more intense agitation is imminent in the coming few days, AMUCO warned.
