Imphal, September 28 2023:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and Joint Students' Body Lamka (JSBL) have strongly condemned the search operation carried out by a combined team of Central and state forces at Joujangtek village and adjoining areas on September 26 to nab culprits involved in the killing of two Meetei students.
In a statement, KIM said that the state government took 'swift and decisive' action to nab killers of two students while deliberately remaining a mute spectator to the ruthless atrocities committed against the Kuki-Zo people thereby testifying intensity of the targeted discrimination and oppression of the Kuki-Zo community in Manipur.
According to KIM, the contention that the two students were kidnapped by armed Kukis is logically unsound, especially at a time when the state is clearly divided on ethnic lines prohibiting inter-regional travel between the Meeteis and the Kuki-Zo people.
KIM also sought justice to victims of the ongoing ethnic violence regardless of what gender, caste, creed or ethnicity they belong to, and strongly condemned selective (exclusive) justice adopted by Manipur government against the helpless Kuki-Zo people.
In another statement, JSBL said that it welcomes the CBI to find out the truth about the killing of two students but only the Central forces should carry out the operations in Kuki-Zo land.
It also said that similar operations in Meetei area should be carried out tp nab culprits involved in killing of Kuki-Zo people.
