Real issue is majoritarian policy : KIM

Imphal, June 18 2023: Responding to Chief Minister N Biren's assertion that the present conflagration is between the State Government and illegal immigrants, the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has alleged that the real issue is the majoritarian-integrationist policy of N Biren Singh, wherein he is able to colonise the minds of frustrated-unemployed-chauvinist Meiteis.

N Biren Singh also mentioned that the State Government will safeguard the unity and integrity of Manipur and " ...will not compromise even an inch....to any force", KIM noted in a statement.

According to the Constitution as enlisted in Article 3(b),(c),(d) and (e); the Parliament may by law increase, diminish the area of any State; alter the boundaries and the name of any State respectively, it said.

It then asked if N Biren Singh Govt was indirectly challenging the constitutionality of the Parliament of India.

"Did not N Biren Singh and Sanajaoba take an oath under the Constitution of India ? Why are they acting against the very thing which they swore to protect and uphold ?", KIM asked.

One cannot but smell a tinge of insubordination towards the Constitution.

A tinge of anti-National element can be felt, it said.

Condoling all those killed and injured at Khamenlok, KIM advised the rational-sane Meiteis to 'stay home, stay safe.

"And if some sections of the Meiteis are forcing you to attack the Kukis then we suggest you leave Manipur and wish you all the best for your future endeavours", it said.

It also urged the general public at large and the Meiteis in particular not to believe in rumours and fake news.

N Biren Singh kept calling those who defended their villages as militants, it said before urging the Central forces to take strict action against those who are allegedly attacking Kukis and their villages.

It went on to claim that the Kuki village volunteers are exercising their Constitutional rights under Article 21�� 'Protection of life and personal liberty' .

"We would like to remind N Biren Singh that going back to Imphal and resettling with his people is next to impossible.

.NBiren Singh should not direct a State Government what to do or not do", it said.

Taking strong exception to the press statement issued by the All Assam Manipuri Youths' Association wherein it "appeals to the ruling Mizo National Front to withdraw within three days w.e.f.14/06/2023 their support for the separate administration for the Kuki people in Manipur ...", KIM remarked that the All Assam Manipuri Youths' Association is too naive, and nescient of the ethnicity of the Kuki people who share the same roots of origin, yet politically divided in three countries viz;- India, Myanmar and Bangladesh.

It is advisable on the part of the All Assam Manipuri Youths' Association to have in-depth historical analysis before making such a preposterous statement, it said.

The association must also be reminded itself of the alleged institutionalized violence and nexus between the police commandos and some Meitei elements 'who have compelled us to live separately as there exist irreconcilable differences and wide-ranging hostilities between the two communities, it continued.

Alleging that valley-based Manipur State forces have been compromised, KIM urged the Central Government and its Central forces to maintain law and order in Manipur.
