Do not involve students in protest: Assn

While welcoming the government's decision to reopen educational institutions from June 21, All Manipur Recognised Pri-vate Schools' Welfare Association appealed all concerned not to drag students in the on-going violence or protest.
Association president Doren Khangan-ba told media persons on Sunday that it reached an understanding with education minister and education (S) department on June 13 and accordingly the government announced reopening of schools from June 21 to resume normal classes.
He said that both the government and founders and principals of private educational institu-tions should not drag students into the present violence.
He also appealed CS0s, Meira Paibi groups and student organisa-tions to keep away students from human chain formation and other street protests.
According to Doren, the Association has so far visited 14 relief camps opened at different places of the state and identified 250 students taking shelter in these camps.
Among the students, 144 want to study at private schools and necessary ar-rangement will be made for them, he said and appealed to the government to take up immediate steps to remove relief camps and security forces occupying educational institutions before June 21 .
