Imphal, June 18 2023:
Universal Mothers' Organisation (UMO) has asserted that if the gov-ernment is unable to open the blockade of the high-way in Kangpokpi, then the mothers of Manipur will step in to reopen the same.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, UMO pres-ident Moirangthem So-rojini Leima said that the Prime Minister's silence over the matter shows his utter disregard for the people of Manipur.
She continued that SoO agreement must be with-drawn as the Kuki mili-tants bound by the pact are blatantly attacking civilians instead of put-ting forth their demands to the government.
Since security advisor Kuldiep Singh, IGAR South and 27 Sector Assam Rifles have failed to resolve the cri-sis and are biased, they should go back, she de-manded.
Sorojini further said that it is unreasonable to conduct search operations to recover firearms from the valley and peripher-al areas considering the severity of the prevailing situation.
The right step would be to first put a stop to those instigating and killing in the name of the violence.
Additionally, the mothers of the state should be included in the search operations.
If BJP wants to continue its reign in Manipur, it should work in accor-dance with the wishes of the people, she stressed while urging all the com-munities to stop being in-fluenced by rumours and stand together for a united Manipur.
