Kakching, June 18 2023:
Humanitarian aid continues to pour in to meet the basic necessities of those who have been displaced by the prolonged violence that has gripped the State.
Staff of Primary Health Centre (PHC) Hiyanglam extended relief materials to the relief camps under the jurisdiction of this PHC today.
Under the leadership of Dr Kiran Elangbam, the team visited the relief camps set up at Hiyanglam Girls Junior High School, Wabagai Higher Secondary School, Lotus Club, Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai Community Hall, Mayeng Lamjao, Langmeidong Higher Secondary School and Elangkhanpokpi Mayai Leikai Mandop and distributed plastic water tanks, buckets, tubs, mugs, biscuits, medicines and monetary aid to the inmates.
Separately, Chaningkhombi Self Help Group in collaboration with the locals of RDS Leirak and YVA Club under Wangjing Municipal Council Ward Number 4 extended relief items to the relief camps at remote areas of Sugnu AC, namely Chairel and Tangjeng Mangjing.
Speaking in this connection, Keisam Gangarani, member, Chaningkhombi Self Help Group stated that relief camps opened in remote areas do not receive a lot of help as most of the public are not aware of these camps.
Thus she appealed to all generous persons extending aid during such difficult times to also send their relief materials to the relief camps set up in far flung areas.
She also highlighted the lack of basic necessities faced by the relief camp inmates at Chairel Makha Leikai relief centre such as medicines and daily consumables and urged the State Government to take appropriate steps to help the displaced families.
