Speaking to media persons, Brahmapur Chaokhat Thourang Ima Lup joint secretary, Aribam Sushila stated that the protest was staged to condemn the physical assault of Ningthoujam Sunil (46) on Friday night at his residence by Central Security Forces.
She shared that Sunil was admitted to Advanced Hospital after he was beaten brutally by the Security personnel.
"It was unfortunate that the security forces who are there to protect the people would turn against unarmed civilians and carry out such acts of brutality", she added.

Placards with the slogans such as, "Don't turn against Meitei civilians if you can't face Kuki militants", "Don't pour oil in fire", etc were displayed at the protest.
Meanwhile, Meetei Students' Association (MSA), Manipur has also vehemently condemned the acts of brutality carried out by RAF personnel against innocent civilians in Manipur who are already suffering due to the ongoing unrest.
"RAF personnel should do their duties and take action to control the armed Kuki militants instead of assaulting innocent civilians and destroying their properties in the valley area", said MSA in a release.
The association urged the Government to take necessary measures to rein-in the wayward personnel of RAF who have been involved in various unethical activities.
MSA also appealed to the MLAs/Ministers belonging to the Meitei community to stop watching from the sidelines and announce their stands to the public at the earliest.
MSA further asserted that the answers of the show-cause notice issued to the 10 Kuki MLAs by the Committee on Privilege & Ethics Manipur Legislative Assembly on May 31 last should be made public at the earliest.
