Reduce admission fees: DESAM

Stating that people of the state and the displaced families in particular are fac-ing tremendous monetary problem because of the com-munal conflict, Democratic Students' Alliance of Mani-pur (DESAM) has appealed to educational institutes and coaching centres to reduce admission fees and allow fee payments in phased manner by considering the plight of the students.
In a release, DESAM ed-ucation and academic af-fairs secretary Thounaojam Somol Luwang stated that they received complaints and reports of forceful acts towards the students by private coaching centres particularly NEET(UG) and private schools and further appealed not to repeat it.
He also appealed to private schools, coaching centres and committees to make arrangements and help in every possible way to the displaced students who came with a request to get admis-sion to schools and coaching centres.
Recalling the statements of the government to pro-vide free education to the displaced students, Somol urged the government to issue orders by departments concerned and made pub-lic about the schemes the students will be provided with free education.
He also appealed to authorities con-cerned to reduce admission fees from school level to up to college level and ensure equal fee structures among the school.
