Imphal, June 18 2023:
Reacting sharply to chief min-ister N Biren Singh's remark that state government will protect unity and integrity of Manipur and will not compromise even an inch of Mani-pur's land to any force, the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) said the Parliament may by law alter boundary and name of any state.
In a statement, KIM urged the central government and its forces to maintain law and order situation in Manipur while maintaining that state forces have been compromised.
While calling N Biren as chief agent of the ongoing violence, it said the chief minister is adamant that the present conflagration in the state is due to illegal immigrants.
However, the real issue is the majoritarian inte-grationist policy of N Biren, wherein he is able to colonise the minds of frustrated and unemployed Meiteis whom he has turned into a chauvinist force to terrorize civilians particularly the Kuki-Zo Indians.
As enlisted in Article 3(b), (c), (d) and (e) of the Constitution, the Parliament may by law increase, di-minish the area of any state; alter the boundaries and the name of any state respectively, the KIM said and asked if the Biren government is indirectly challenging the constitutionality of the Parliament of India.
The KIM also asked if N Biren and Sanajaoba (MP) did not take oath under the Constitution of India and why are they acting against contrary to what they swore to protect and uphold.
One cannot but smell a tinge of insubordination towards the Constitution, KIM maintained.
Extending its condolences to all those killed and injured at Khamen-lok, KIM advised the rational-sane Meiteis to stay home, stay safe and don't come and die at Kuki villages.
The KIM also appealed to the public at large and the Meiteis in particular not to believe in rumours and fake news.
Negating N Biren's terming of Kuki villagers defending their villages as militants, it urged central forces to take st rict action against those attacking Kukis and their villages.
According to the KIM, Kuki village volunteers are exercising their constitutional rights under Article 21 and protecting life and personal liberty which N Biren and chauvinist force seek to violate.
The KIM also reminded N Biren that it is next to impossible for the Kukis to go back to Imphal and resettling with N Biren Singh's people.
Biren should not direct a state government what to do or not do, it added.
The KIM also reactedsharply to All Assam Mani-puri Youths' Association, which appealed the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) in Mizoram to withdraw their support for the separate administration for the Kuki people in Manipur within three days.
The Manipuri association is too nahreand nescient about the ethnicity of the Kuki people who share the same roots of origin, yet politically divided in three countries namely India, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
It is advisable on the part of the Association to have in-depth historical analysis before making such a preposterous statement, it added.
