Student bodies share suggestions on class resumption

With state government preparing to reopen educational institutions from June 21 despite intermittent violent incidents, six student organisations appealed to government and authority concerned to take up certain measures for smooth conduct of schools and colleges.
The organisations namely Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students' Association KSA), Students' Union of Kangleipak (KSA), Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpang Lup (AIMS) and another one also proposed 13 measures/ suggestions to the govern ment.
The suggestions include appropriate measures by the state government for students affected by the vio lence and taking shelter in relief camps; exert pressure on the central government for special education pack age; set up special residential school and free education for/to homeless students; establish security outposts in vulnerable areas and nearby schools including deployment of local volunteers; conduct of special class for students living in vulnerable areas who are unable to attend educational institutions at present; students affected by the vio lence be allowed to study at schools/colleges of their conveniences and facilitate hassle-free transfer to new schools/'colleges; both the government and private ed ucational institutions should take up a policy to provide free education to children/ sibling of those martyred in the ongoing violence; lift the ban on internet to facilitate online class; private schools should fix admission and tuition fee at affordable rates so as to prevent drop-out of students and no fine levied against any student; student transport service provider and government should to frame policy to levy 50 per cent of the transportation charge from students; and private schools charge fees at the minimal.
Meanwhile, a statement of KSA urged the government fix rate of admission fee for private schools rather than fixing the same by proprietors of private educational institutions.
The students' body also urged the gov ernment to frame special education policy and bear admission fee for students belonging to lower income group at least for this year.
