Many pray for victims of present unrest, peace

Prayers and other oblations were offered at Ebudhou Khwailakpa in Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai today for the people who have been affected by the present conflict which began on May 3 last.
Speaking on the occasion, L Basanjit shared that the ceremony was organised to pray to "Ebudhou Ebendhou" for safety of the people of Manipur and those who are currently fighting to protect the integrity of Manipur.
He mentioned that the gathering also prayed for the brave heroes who made supreme sacrifice for the motherland to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
Moreover, Manipuri Meitei Association, Bangalore (MMAB), also hosted a Silent Peace Prayer at the Art of Living Centre, Bengaluru on June 17 .
In a release, MMAB informed that hundreds of individuals from the Meitei community gathered to demonstrate their unwavering support for equality and dignity while also offering prayers for those who have been afflicted and lost their lives to the violence in Manipur.
Expressing profound sorrow over the prolonged violence in Manipur, MMAB said, "The association firmly believes that lasting peace can only be achieved when all militant groups and armed miscreants are disarmed" .
Sharing that the association requested Sri Sri Ravishankar for his blessings in restoring peace and Law in Manipur, MMAB claimed, "Gurudev is well-informed about the ongoing crisis in Manipur and had foreseen it in 2004, having advocated to the President of India, late Abdul Kalam and raising the issue of how one community was being marginalized due to differential policies inherited from the British" .
MMAB continued that Meiteis should preserve their rich indigenous culture and traditions, known for their contributions of the Raas Leela and Polo to the world.
"Addressing illegal immigration is crucial to avoid any disruptions or demographic shifts", it added.
Advocating peace and development, MMAB stated that the current violence could have been prevented if grievances were addressed through meaningful and civilized dialogue involving all impacted stakeholders.
