The Association of Healthcare Providers-India (AHPI), Manipur State Chapter has raised some suggestions to the State Government to help ease predicament the association is facing while ensuring free/subsidised healthcare to the victims of the present crisis.
Manipur State Chapter of AHPI, in a release said it strongly condemns the continuing violence in the State following the Tribal Solidarity March in Churachandpur on May 3 .
Expressing sadness over loss of precious lives following the crisis, the association also paid its homage and condolences to all precious lives lost in the present crisis and prayed for early return of normalcy.
In view of the situation in the State, the association has been undertaking its Corporate Social Responsibilities to the society by giving free treatment, diagnostic investigations and hospitalization to all the victims since the start of the crisis despite many shortcomings and difficulties, it said.
The association also highlighted that healthcare firms are severely hit economically due to reduction in earning sources as well as due to free services being catered in almost all the member firms.
The association, citing the issues and fearing prolongation of the issue, raised suggestions to the State Government to help them continue their services.
The suggestions, as enumerated in the press release are:
1 .
To procure emergency medicine and consumable supplies, which are fast depleting, and supply them at subsidised rate.
2.To allow air cargo transportation of the mentioned supplies and bear expenses of the transportation as was done during COVID-19 times.
3.To institute a "Special Treatment Package'' for all direct victims of the crisis and in the "relief camps' which allows reimbursement of the treatment cost provided to them by the Private Healthcare Providers in the State during the crisis.
The package may be planned in the lines similar to the existing Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang.
4.Enrolment of beneficiaries in fast-forward manner to enable immediate functioning of the package as soon as possible.
The association went on to welcome all help from the Government, NGOs and other benevolent citizens to ease the treatment burden of the people displaced due to the situation in the State.
The association further highlighted that its member hospitals and diagnostic centres have catered services worth around Rs 54,00,000 (fifty four lakh) in the form of OPD, in-patients, surgeries, diagnostic investigations and ICU admissions since May 3 .
