Ukhrul DC launches taxi service

Ukhrul, June 19 2023:
Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Zuringla Kengoo on Monday launched a taxi service for Ukhrul town at the premises of Mini Secretariat Office in Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
After cutting the ceremonial ribbon, the Ukhrul DC flagged off the yellow painted taxi service.
Notably, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ukhrul Ningsem Vashum also attended the launching programme as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ukhrul SP stressed on the need to streamline town traffic policies and raise its standard through proper regulations to avert public inconveniences.
Stating that this will also help to identify traffic violators, he further urged taxi drivers of the town to maintain the driving discipline in order to reduce public complaint and to avoid penalty from the concerned authority.

During the launching event, Ukhrul District Taxi Welfare Association (UDTWA) president Khathing shared that a meeting held on May 18 at Ukhrul SP office had discussed regulating taxi services of Ukhrul town.
After minute deliberation, it was unanimously resolved to paint the bonnet and trunk of all registered taxis yellow for easy identification.
As a part of awareness and familiarization to the public, a taxi rally was also held in town.
Notably the launching programme was attended by David Kashungnao, CEO, Ukhrul; Maibam Suranjoy, SDO; Shangam Shaliwo, DFO and Tangkhul CSO leaders at Hamleikhong.
The launching of Ukhrul town yellow taxi was jointly initiated and organised by UDTWA, Ukhrul Police and ADC, Ukhrul.
