AMMOCOC plans rally on Jun 21; sit-in staged at Keikhu

In solidarity with all those killed or injured during the violence, All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Co-Ordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) will take out a torch rally in Muslim-inhabited areas on June 21 carrying the message of unity and safeguarding the integrity of the state.
In a press meet held at AMMOCOC office in Minu-thong Hatta on Monday, Committee president SM Jalal said that the people along with civil society organisations and individuals, regardless of the community they belong to have been working together to protect the integrity of Manipur.
However, the peace in the state had been shaken by the May 3 clashes and the central government's actions in dealing with the violence till date has raise concerns.
Nonetheless, the Muslim community in the state remain firm by its stand for preservation of Manipur's integrity and the same was conveyed to the union home minister during his visit.
Jalal reiterated the stand of the Muslim community and urged all individuals/ affiliated organisations not to make any statements on their own.
He then shared the grief of all those killed, injured and displaced by the violence, in addition to extending support to Md Mustafa of Kwakta who was shot and is currently un dergoing treatment.
He then informed that as part of the observance of Idul Al-Adha on June 29, only namaj (prayers) and kurbani (sacrifice) ritual will be performed.
As such, he appealed to all concerned not to obstruct the transportation of animals meant for the sacrifice.
On the other hand, demanding for solving the prevailing violence in Manipur and preserving the integrity of the state along with non-consideration of any separate administration demand, Keikhu Kabui Khul Women Society and Keikhu Muslim Women Welfare Society jointly staged a sit - in protest at Keikhu Market Shed on Monday.
Speaking on the sidelines, Keikhu Kabui Khul Women Society secretary Adim Panmei expressed dismay over the violence which has raging in the state since May 3 and over the plight of all those killed, injured and displaced by the violence.
Thus, she appealed to the leaders to curb the violence at the earliest, especially in the interest of the children who are the future pillars of the society.
She further urged for implementing NRC immediately so as to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
Keikhu Muslim Women Welfare Society member Riikshana, Khullakparn questioned the lackadaisical attitude of the central and state governments with regard to the violence, while urging for solving the crisis as soon as possible.
During the sit-in, the protestors shouted slogans like 'Safeguard the integrity of Manipur', 'Implement NRC immediately', 'No two administration in the state' etc.
